    STUDY IN LITHUANIA

Have you ever considered studying in Europe’s Baltic region? If this is the case, why not study in Lithuania? Lithuania, sometimes known as Lietuva, is one of the three Baltic nations, along with Latvia and Estonia, and is located on the Baltic Sea’s eastern shore. Lithuania is a little nation, but it will certainly satisfy you, as you will find yourself traveling through a country rich in colorful cottages, castles, fortresses, and cobblestone alleys.

Because of its central location, studying in Lithuania will allow you to visit Northern Europe. You may easily visit neighboring countries such as Sweden or Finland, as well as Lithuania’s sister nations Latvia and Estonia, whose capital cities Riga and Tallinn are only a few hours away by bus!

But really what differentiates Lithuania from other countries?

First and foremost, if you are seeking a low-cost European study location, Lithuania is an excellent choice for you as a European or foreign student! Tuition rates, as well as housing and living expenses, are among the cheapest in Europe.

    Study in Lithuania: Overview

If you choose to study in Lithuania, you will be able to learn more about the history of this beautiful nation by visiting rare historical monuments and museums, as well as learn about the country’s independence from the Soviet Union in the early 1990s.

Lithuania is a developed country that belongs to the European Union, the Council of Europe, the Nordic Investment Bank, the Nordic-Baltic Eight (NB8), NATO, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD).

If you study in Lithuania, you will broaden your cultural understanding, build your network, and obtain good academic qualifications.

    Why Study in Lithuania?

So, why should you study in Lithuania? For international students, Lithuania has superb academic institutions, modern facilities, and over 350 English-taught study programs. The country places a high value on education since literacy among young Lithuanians over the age of 15 is 100%.

    • You may learn English full-time or part-time in Lithuania. A TOEFL language test can be used to demonstrate your English language skills.
    • The degrees are divided into three cycles: undergraduate Bachelor’s, graduate Master’s, and postgraduate Doctorate.
    • Several Lithuanian institutions, including Vilnius University and Vytautas Magnus University, are ranked among the best in the world.
    • In Lithuania, there are 15 public universities and 6 private universities, as well as 16 public colleges and 11 private colleges. Vilnius Institution is the country’s largest university and one of the oldest in Northern Europe.
    • Kaunas Institution of Technology is the Baltics’ largest technical university. The Ministry of Education, Science, and Sports of the Republic of Lithuania oversees all educational institutions.

Now, you know why studying in Lithuania is a good thing. Right? So, let’s move to the Educational System in Lithuania

The Lithuanian education system has a long history of higher education and provides international students with a welcoming and student-friendly atmosphere. It was founded in the 16th century, and the first Ministry of Education, known as the “Education Commission,” was created in 1773.

The number of international students that choose Lithuania for their studies or exchange programs is growing. In reality, there are foreign students from 95 different countries in Lithuania, and surveys show that 90 percent of them enthusiastically suggest studying in Lithuania. Lithuania offers a wide range of Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate degrees, and the academic year is divided into two semesters, running from September to June. You can select whether to learn in Lithuanian or English, as well as whether to study full-time or part-time.

The European Credit Transfer System is used to evaluate each program (ECTS). The duration of a Bachelor’s degree is 3-4 years, a Master’s degree is 1-2 years, and a Doctorate degree is dependent on the discipline and school. You can also pick from integrated studies that combine first and second-cycle degrees, as well as joint programs that allow you to get a double degree.

What are the costs to study in Lithuania?

Lithuania has a low cost of living, with the average international student spending roughly 300-900 EUR per month.

According to a survey conducted in 2020, 56 percent of Lithuanian students spend 300-500 EUR per month, while 38 percent spend less than 300 EUR per month. Of course, it all depends on how much money you’re prepared to spend on student housing, food, and entertainment.

The Lithuanian Student Identity Card (LSP), the International Student Identity Card (ISIC), and the Erasmus Student Network card are examples of these (ESN).
